A gaming laptop with photo editing on its mind

The Blade Pro 17 is mostly the same as that of the rest of the Blades, with a look and feel that haven't changed in a while. The relatively austere, tanklike metal body remains. The screen bezels have gotten smaller, the ports have changed a bit and the heat venting has moved around, but ultimately it's the same pricey, well-balanced gaming-and-toiling workhorse we've come to appreciate

Outrageously well-specced, incredibly cleverly cooled, and impressively compact, the Razer Blade Pro 17 RTX2080 is absolutely worthy of that Pro designation. Its gaming performance is superb, its 144Hz screen is delectable, and it's a handsome-looking machine to boot.

The Razer Blade Pro 17 is a tough gaming laptop with higher resolution than most. But a larger keyboard with more travel would do wonders for the experience. And we expected more storage space at this price.

The Razer Blade Pro 17 is far from an Ultrabook. It’s just over six pounds and boasts a 17-inch screen, an H-series processor, and a top-end RTX GPU.

The Razer Blade 17 is a premium gaming laptop at a premium price. You can expect excellent performance, a great OLED display and a sleek design, but also a heavy chassis and a relatively cramped keyboard.

The 2020 Razer Blade Pro 17 is essentially a larger, more powerful version of its 15-inch sibling. And that makes it one of highest-performing, most portable premium 17-inch gaming laptops out there.

Packed with the brand-new RTX 3000 series laptop GPUs from Nvidia, the Razer Blade Pro 17 (2021) is an immensely powerful – and expensive – device. While it's a beast at playing games, it's also an excellent creative workstation as well, so if you're looking for both, then the price will seem more palatable. For most people, however, it will simply be too expensive.

Even if Razer haven't significantly changed the Blade Pro design in a few years, I still think this 2021 update is a great laptop in its class. The overall performance that comes from this form factor is good, and the cooling system does an excellent job keeping everything stable. I’m most impressed with this new QHD screen, though, as I think it’s been a necessity for 17” for a long time now. At the same time, I feel that the battery life, audio, and keyboard could be improved, especially on a device that demands this sort of a premium.

The refreshed Blade Pro 17 for early 2020 brings a stunning 4K touch display with 120Hz refresh and a more affordable 300Hz full HD option. Combined with an RTX 2080 Super Max-Q GPU and a blazing fast eight-core Core i7, this portable desktop replacement gets it nearly all right.

In isolation, this is probably the best Razer laptop you can buy - if you have the budget. However, despite all the new components, it's not a silver bullet for 4K gaming and that price tag feels very, very high when you have to bump games down to 1080p.
